The 50 state strategy is very important to us red-state Democrats, and so far it is working beautifully.
Georgia Democrats registered 45,000 voters in 2007.
10% more people voted in Georgia’s Democratic primary on February 5 than in the Republican primary. If we could replicate that in November, we’d be golden.Scientist (hurrah!) Bill Foster beat former Speaker Republican Dennis Hastert’s chosen successor for the House by a convincing 53% to 47% in a special election on Saturday. This district went heavily for Bush in 2000 and 2004 and Hastert was never reelected by less than 64%. Sen. Barack Obama campaigned for Foster. Sen. John McCain campaigned hard Republican Jim Oberweis, but it didn’t do them much good.Robert Creamer in The Huffington Post comments:
My wife, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, and I spent Saturday going door-to-door asking people to get out and vote for Foster. At door after door people talked about the need for change - their readiness to support Foster - and their support for Obama.
