If we don’t start switching to renewable energy now, most of Chatham County will be underwater in 50 years’ time. Rep. John Barrow doesn’t appear to understand this. The U.S. House of Representatives today passed the Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation Tax Act of 2008 without his support. The bill would repeal tax subsidies for Big Oil and extend and expand tax incentives for renewable energy, as well as for hybrid cars and energy-efficient buildings and appliances.”This bill does not add to our deficit,”" said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, “but rather repeals $18 billion in tax subsidies for Big Oil companies,. “By strengthening our renewable energy sector, the bill will help create the next generation of good-paying, green collar jobs and bring down energy prices in the long term.”Six Democrats represent Georgia in Congress. Five of them voted for the bill. Rep. John Barrow joined the seven Georgia Republican congressmen in voting against the bill. [Source: House Roll Call.)This is disgraceful. There are few counties in the country more vulnerable to climate change than ours. When sea levels rise further, Chatham County is going to disappear almost completely into the ocean. Could some of you who live in District 12 please bring some pressure to bear on your congressman.

Barrow is the worst DINO in his votes according to http://www.progressivepunch.org
He’s #231 last of the Democrats.
What an embarrassment.
