Kingston’s Attack on Obama

February 25th, 2008 by karen

Jack Kingston attacked the Obamas on Real Time with Bill Maher last night. He said, among other things, “The guy would not say the Pledge of Allegiance.” This I need hardly add, and as Bill Maher pointed out to him, is not true. (The first minute or so is enough.)

Kingston has, for years, sounded like an idiot because he regurgitates the talking points that seem to appear in every Republican in-box every morning. Attacking people is fine by me, but a politician has a duty to check his facts before spouting off in public.

Tondee’s Tavern brilliantly suggests that you might like to vent your outrage about this by contributing to Bill Gillespie’s campaign against Kingston. Here is the link to donate to Gillespie’s campaign.

Here Jack goes again, seeking the spotlight and spending the taxpayers time politiking instead of serving the people of District 1. Jack attacked Barack Obama’s character and patriotism, supporting his argument with blatant lies and misinformation. Jack is in Congress for one purpose: to represent the people of South Georgia, fighting for what’s best for our region and America. He is not there to campaign for President. Partisan publicity stunts like this interview only waste taxpayers’ money and make South Georgia look bad. This is no surprise though. For several years now Jack has put his political party and special interest friends ahead of the people he represents. As your Congressman, all my energy will be focused on serving South Georgia and putting the people first.

True, oh sage. There is an excellent Streeter cartoon about this in this morning’s SMN.

Representative Kingston’s persistent attempt to spin the facts surrounding Barack Obama’s presidential aspirations are typical of the right wing’s “re-framing” effort.

Regarding “experience” - Americans have seen first-hand what experienced leaders like Bush, Cheney, et al have done to advance the “will of the people.” Rather than lift up American working class families; multinational corporations have pulled the political strings connected to the Bush/Cheney White House. Bush’s cowboy swagger and verbal bravado relative to his “political capital” was utilized as a conduit for corporate gain to underscore record profits for Big Oil and defense contractors.

I challenge Mr. Kingston to speak openly about the Feith-based Office of Special Plans; its’ AEI dominant membership - bolstering the ideology of grossly corrupt individuals such as Newt Gingrich; Paul Wolfowitz; Liz and Richard Cheney; Chalabi; LIBBY; Luti; Rumsfeld; Maloof; Perle; Schulsky; Rubin; Wurmser, etc.

Further; I would like to challenge Mr. Kingston to speak openly regarding former CIA bin Laden Unit Chief, Michael Scheuer’s recent published works (Marching Toward Hell) concerning Tenent’s passive role in thwarting cherry-picked intelligence that was spun to market the Invasion of Iraq on March 19, 2003 - following Newt Gingrich’s Declaration of War on March 5th, 2003 as the Capstone speaker, (note the date please and question how a civilian can issue such a statement). I challenge Mr. Kingston: a so-called member of the “Values Party” and as an EXPERIENCED Congressional member to speak TRUTHFULLY about these events that have led to the shameful sacrifice of United States servicemen and women by the religious right through outright lies.

Experience - the Pledge of Allegience - after the rubber stamping record of right wing Republicans that has resulted in record deficits; cuts in education; veteran’s benefits; outsourcing of American jobs, healthcare and benefits?!

District 1 Georgia’s rural middle and lower working class families have received NO help from Rep. Jack Kingston. Jack Kingston prefers living vicariously through title, position, and exposure to power rather than protect rural Georgians who struggle to make ends meet.

In June 2006, I contacted Barack Obama’s office
to invite him to speak at an event. I suggested he pair up with Oprah Winfrey …………….. and consider a run for the presidency. Former GA Dem. Leader Bobby Kahn; impressed with the events I was building for former candidate Jim Nelson; that his office; which had initially contacted me about the two other events; then “attempted to hijack” Obama and Ben Affleck for the state convention - amazing! He got Affleck - Obama was promoting his book).

EVERYONE in south GA should unite behind Obama and Gillespie.

Clinton is disingenuous and involved in too much controversy: Whitewater; PROMIS software, donations from Big Oil routinely, etc.

The American people should DEMAND that:

    1) America should exit Iraq
    2) No conflict of interest legislation is passed; preventing elected officials from paid board/consulting positions.
    3) Majority shareholders have must surrender stock portfolios to a third-party escrow manager.
    4) American Corporations (such as CitiBank) who engage in profit laundering and tax evasion should be coerced to pay deliniquent taxes; which are used to fund social programs (veterans’ needs, affordable housing, uninsured medical expenses, etc). The shell companies that generate a profit from this activity often funnel their profits through conduits that are used to fund terror organizations - John Zdanowitz is an expert - having led consults for the US Treasury Dept., AMEX HQ, ICE; CIA, etc. John was another speaker that had accepted my invitation to speak -

Finally - I would like to urge Bill Gillespie to POST his position on the issues - failure to do so in a timely manner affects campaign donations.

    Tell it seartangel!

This Kingston guy is a walking talking reason for term limits…I have it on good authority that he has done nothing for his constituency’s veterans..and beyond assuring his own lengthy stay in office has accomplished little.

A large broom is needed ..hopefully Gillespie will be handed one.
