The final tally of Georgia delegates to the Democratic Convention is just about complete. (It is complicated for us by the fact that part of Chatham County lies in the 1st and part in the 12th Congressional District.)
Total Georgia delegates: 87. In addition, there are 13 unpledged superdelegates + 2 unpledged add-on delegates. (Who thought up this loony-tunes system, for heaven’s sake?)
The 1st CD gets:
- 1 female delegate pledged to Barack Obama
- 1 male delegate pledged to Barack Obama
- 1 female delegate pledged to Hillary Clinton
- 1 male alternate pledged to Barack Obama
The 12th CD gets
- 1 female Clinton Delegate
- 2 male Obama Delegate
- 2 female Obama Delegates and
- Alternate - 1 Obama male
Delegates will be elected at congressional district caucuses on April 19, 2008.
The Democratic National Convention insists on male/female diversity. That’s why the delegates are broken down by sex. In addition, of course, we shall have an ethnically diverse delegation.

Delegates will be elected at congressional district caucuses on April 19…so how would you get your name on the list? Please pardon my ignorance of the process. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thank you.
Is anyone from Chatham County planning on trying to become a delegate?
