I sometimes hear people criticize Rep. John Barrow for being insufficiently left-wing. I urge you to think again. Would you rather have a congressmen who votes with the congressional Democrats 75% of the time or one who votes with them 0% of the time?
Remember, the GOP thought they had gerrymandered the 12th CD for a GOP win. John Barrow won it anyway, and now has an approval rating of 60% which, as I recall is up about 10% since this time last year. He must be doing something right.
If we ever get to govern this country, we shall be doing so as a coalition of people from many points on the political spectrum. We cannot ignore anyone’s ideas. We have to support all Democratic initiatives to make the changes this country needs. We shall make some mistakes, and it will take a long time, but we can restore the America that Bush and the Republican Congress have betrayed, if we stick together to make it happen.
