The stories about returning wounded soldiers not receiving the quality of care they deserve and were promised, are enough to make one weep. Our previous Congress heard these stories from troops and their families as early at 2005 and did nothing.
Congressman Kingston’s district includes two large troop installations and at least one VA facility. He and his fellow Republicans, should be ashamed.
More to the point, where are the stories about what is going on at Hunter Field, Fort Stewart, the local VA?. This paper fails to fulfill its civic responsibility if it fails to cover stories that are brought to its attention about problems in its own coverage area.
A letter to the editor, not two weeks ago, from a retired sergeant at Fort Stewart, detailing how this Administration is failing retired soldiers who need medical care, should have had reporters covering his story and looking for other stories of like nature. The pages of this paper has been silent about local troops and their problems.
Shame on you, all of you who claim to have the interest of this country at heart. You call for Supporting Our Troops. Show that you really mean it!
Right now, the clear inference is that you talk a good line but the work involved in finding out what is really happening is not a priority. Shame, shame, shame!
